| What is CO2 Laser Resurfacing?
Laser resurfacing treatment is used for reducing facial wrinkles, blemishes or acne scars. Skin is precisely removed layer by layer by the concentrated beams of light. This kind of treatment is good for treating fine lines or acne scars. However, if you have a darker skin tone or active acne this procedure is not for you. CO2 Laser resurfacing has been used for years to successfully treat many skin conditions.
What is the procedure for CO2 Laser Resurfacing?
CO2 laser resurfacing is an outpatient procedure, how long it takes is relative to the amount of damage being treated. Anaesthesia is administered for Intravenous sedation, a.k.a. twilight sleep. The CO2 laser allows us to use a high-energy beam to vaporize scars, lines, wrinkles and other skin imperfections, layer by layer. The laser affords a level of precision, control and accuracy that is not available by other methods.
There are several different lasers used in CO2 laser resurfacing. Which laser is used for your procedure will be determined by Dr. Mark Youssef after discussing and evaluating your particular needs. The different types of lasers are all designed to target specific damage. During your consultation the Dr. will evaluate the extent of damage you have and lay out a treatment plan specifically tailored for you.
