What is JUVÉDERM® / JUVÉDERM® Ultra / JUVÉDERM® XC ?
Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid filler used to restore volume to the areas of the face which have lost elasticity. As the skin ages the cells lose the ability to produce hyaluronic acid. This causes the skin to lose volume, often resulting in wrinkles and folds. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar found in the human body. The role of hyaluronic acid in the skin is to deliver nutrients, hydrate the skin by holding in water, and to act as a cushioning agent. What side effects are accociated with Juvederm?
Side effects are usually mild and go away with time. They include redness, tenderness at the treatment site, swelling, mild to moderate pain, and itching.
