Procedure
Also known as facial fat grafting, a facial fat transfer works on two areas of your body. First, both target sites receive local anesthesia and a thorough cleansing. After that, your Younique provider will make tiny incisions in the removal area and harvest the fat through a small tube called a cannula. This can come from thighs, abdomen, buttocks, or wherever your slimming goals and medical preferences dictate.
The harvested fat will be injected beneath the facial skin to fill hollowed cheeks, smooth fine lines and wrinkles, plump lips, and return fullness and lift to your cheekbones.
Recovery
Expect swelling and bruising in both the donor and recipient sites for the first week, possibly longer depending on the amount of transfer material taken and injected. Swelling and bruising should subside within 10 to 14 days. Most patients resume normal activity within 7 days after the procedure.

Why would I need more than one facial fat transfer procedure?
The number of procedures will depend on your treatment goals. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, about 50% of the fat transferred during the procedure will survive (the rest will be naturally flushed out of your system). If the recipient area requires a large amount of filler to achieve your goals, it may require more than 1 procedure to effectively achieve replenishment.
The fat that does survive will last for the rest of your life.
Does a facial fat transfer in Los Angeles leave scars?
Though the post-operative bruising and swelling might worry some patients, those will disappear within 2 to 6 weeks. As for scarring, there can be a tiny, barely noticeable incision scar at the site of the liposuction and injection. However, if there are any, they’re so small they’ll practically be invisible (unless someone takes a magnifying glass to your face, which we typically frown upon).
