Benefits of Skin Lesion Removal in Los Angeles
Aesthetic Improvement
Removing skin lesions gives your skin a smoother look and better texture for more pleasing aesthetics.
Self-Confidence
You won’t be worrying about those lesions showing because they’re not there anymore!
Early Warning
Having your lesions assessed early helps determine if they need more serious medical consideration.
Consultation
It starts with a personal consultation with your trained and licensed Younique provider. During this relaxing and energizing one-on-one, they’ll discuss your concerns, your goals for treatment, and your medical history. They will also inspect lesions in the treatment area. Depending on the presentation of the lesion, a biopsy might be ordered. If your provider determines that skin lesion removal in Los Angeles is the best treatment for your concerns and goals, your session can be scheduled.
Procedure
Your treatment begins with your Younique provider thoroughly cleansing the treatment area and removing any makeup as necessary. A local anesthetic will be administered to the target site, and when the skin is numb, the skin lesion removal will start. Whichever treatment has been chosen to best suit your skin, medical history, and lesion location—the procedure should be painless.
Recovery
Most treatments require no downtime whatsoever, so after you’re done you can get back to your day-to-day routine. Depending on the treatment, there may be some soreness, redness, bruising, and/or peeling or flaking of the skin. Aftercare instructions for the specific procedure will be given by your Younique provider along with recommendations for pain medications and comfort actions. Results are permanent.
What is actinic keratoses?
Also called actinic keratosis, or just AK, actinic keratoses are precancerous lesions on the skin often formed from UV ray damaged skin. AK is more common amongst fair-skinned people who experience a large amount of sun exposure throughout their lives.
AK appears as thick, scaly, or crusty patches on the skin. If you believe you may have developed any one of these growths, please contact Younique Surgery Center and Med Spa as soon as possible. When actinic keratosis is left untreated, it could have a 20% chance of turning into squamous cell carcinoma, the second most common form of skin cancer. People with bald heads, and particularly bald men, are especially susceptible to actinic keratoses.
Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is considered an effective treatment for actinic keratosis, with a 14% higher chance of complete clearance of AK after 3 months as compared to cryotherapy. PDT also generally results in a better cosmetic outcome than other treatments for the skin condition. It is necessary to be evaluated in-person to see if you are a good candidate for photodynamic therapy for AK.
What treatments does Younique offer for skin lesion removal in Los Angeles?
Your consultation with your provider and their assessment of your lesion(s) will determine the best course of action. If the lesion looks like it could be cancerous, you may be directed to consult your medical provider or dermatologist.
If the lesion is precancerous, we have several treatment options that address different presentations, locations, and personal sensitivities.
- Photodynamic Therapy (PDT). Light energy combined with prescription photosensitizer destroys lesion tissue.
- Excision. The lesion is cut out and the surgery wound is sutured shut.
- Shaving. A scalpel is used to shave off the upper layers of the lesion, exposing newer skin.
- Laser Treatment. Laser energy is directed at the lesion to destroy its cells and trigger healing.
- Cryotherapy. Liquid nitrogen is applied to the lesion, destroying it.
- Hyfrecation. This specialized machine applies a high-frequency pulse to kill the lesion cells.
